Happy Birthday Blog!

Four years is such an incredibly short amount of time in terms of our world. I was recently told that if we thought of time as a 12 month calendar, humans wouldn’t even make up one full month or even week! We could fit the entirety of human existence into 24 hours, meaning your own life is one minute of that 365 day calendar of time. To think about how young we are as a human race is a mind blowing experience when I contemplate my own life. And yet in the last four years so much has changed.

Four years ago I got married, moved to the magical island of Cape Cod, graduated from my masters degree & yoga teacher training on the same day, started a non-profit, taught yoga full-time & Apollo was born on my birthday (but I didn’t know him yet).

Three years ago we adopted our first born {Mr. Apollo Drake Ravikumar}, I was working in corporate, attending business school, creating our beautiful home and I traveled abroad for the first time in my life.

Two years ago we left everything we had built in order to come back home to the ones we love and start again in an unknown path that has turned into one of the most beautiful times of my life. I opened Barefoot Yoga Shala with the intention of creating a community and have been successful beyond my wildest dreams.

One year ago I met my new family for the first time during the most extraordinary trip of my life as I prayed for my son and did yoga in rice paddies. I hosted my first yoga retreat 7 months pregnant and knew at that moment that I had created the community I so desperately wanted for Barefoot. I wrote for Huffington Post and got my first paid article.

This year and these past few months I have eased into motherhood and began to find the balance between being a yogi, writer, mother, puppy mama, wife and studio owner. I have just began this newest journey and phase of my life and as I look back over just the last four years (let alone 30…), I cannot believe that the HUMAN RACE would only be 24 hours old and I just one moment, one snippet of that. I feel so blessed to have had the confidence to write to you all over the last four years and to now know that there are readers who take in and read my words (there are now many more of you, aside from my biggest fan, hi mom!).

I intend to write MUCH more in my 30th birthday letter to myself and my birthday letter to Apollo, but for now I want to say thank you. Thank you for witnessing my journey and allowing me to grow in the public eye. As I always say in my classes: you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. There have been many times on this journey when I have failed, given up, let go of dreams, changed direction and started all over again. But that is the key to success, to fall down 7 times and get up 8. Thank you so much for watching me fall and reminding me that I needed to get back up. Thank you for suffering through terrible grammar, spelling mistakes, different websites and many different designs. Thank you for laughing with me instead of at me while I navigated the tricky, winding path I find myself on daily. And thank you so much for reading.

It has been an amazing four years and I cannot wait to see what the next four will bring!!

Happy 4th birthday JennyRavikumar.com!!!

Get out there, do yoga & make life sparkle,
Namaste
Jenny
