How to Use Destiny & Hard Work to Create Reality from Your Dreams

Are you listening? That’s the sound of destiny calling your name. It’s the sound of love. It’s the sound of your mission and it is looking for you.

Destiny is defined as: “the events that will necessarily happen to a particular person or thing in the future. Or the hidden power believed to control what will happen in the future.” It is a series of events that lead to your future. I am a firm believer that we have a certain amount of control in destiny and in our future. We make choices, each of us. We wake up every morning and we choose to drink coffee, or red bull, or water, or a green smoothie full of nutrients. We choose what to put in our bodies, who we love and ultimately the lives we will live.

And yet, there is a certain amount of fate and destiny that have a roll in our lives. Who we are born to, where we are born and our outward appearance. But we can change where we live, who we live with and what we look like. Something as simple as a change in hair color can drastically change ones appearance, as well as much more drastic surgery’s that can altar our entire bodies. We have a say in who we are and who we become.

e.e. Cummings says: “It takes courage to grow up to become who you really want to be”

It’s true that although we can change our appearance both inside and out, and we can altar our lives, many of us are content right where we are. A friend of mine recently mentioned that if she had all the money in the world, she would open a smoothie bar and a raw restaurant. I told her to do it! I asked her what was stopping her and she said that she didn’t have enough money and she had many other priorities at the moment.

Letting go of her dream for a smoothie bar is a choice she is making. Yes it does take a lot of money to be the founder of a multi million-dollar smoothie company, but it also takes a lot of hard work and manipulation of circumstances. She could figure it out and spend much less than she is anticipating, but her choice is to follow another dream and leave this dream to die in a beautiful daydream.

There is nothing wrong with letting your dreams go. We each have more than one dream, many choices & perceived priorities. My only wish is that you do not say that you wish you had done something when you ultimately made another choice. Make the choices that will lead you to your purpose and your mission and I promise you will be on the right track.

A number of years ago, I made a choice. I was floating around the British Virgin Islands in a dinghy while some of my friends were diving in the beautiful caves below. The sun was setting and it looked as if God were going to appear in the clouds and the ocean before me. I immediately started crying. I was in my senior year of college and as someone who loves to have a million missions and pots on the fire, I had a major in Theater and a double minor in English in Education. I was only a month away from an offer letter asking me to become an assistant teacher in a city near my hometown and had no idea what was in store for me or what I was supposed to be doing.

It was at that moment that I realized I was put on this beautiful planet to accomplish something. I begged God for help, I asked her to guide the way for me and to shape my life so that I was able to find my mission. I was so scared and had no idea what I was doing. I wanted so badly to find my mission and my purpose in life and even then I wasn’t sure if teaching children was my mission, I knew I was supposed to teach about magic and life and love but I did not yet know that my mission was to teach it to YOU. That took years. But I remember making my choice and acknowledging that I was set on a path to find you, to find magic and to find abundance.

To me, magic is so much more than Santa Claus and glitter (although I whole heartily believe in both). Magic is about the essence and the idea that we can do anything we put our minds to. My grandfather always said that if there is a will, there’s a way and I believe him with every fiber of my being. Work hard, open your eyes to magic and you will find what it is you are looking for.

Magic is something found inside of all of us. It’s the belief and idea that we can do anything! Oprah was once told that she didn’t have a face for television at the beginning of her career, but she believed in herself and continued to push forward. Deep inside she believed in ahimsa and created a loving environment for herself and those around her. She opened her heart and kept running full throttle after her dream. Do you have what it takes to believe in your own magic? To believe in self-love and appreciation? To push yourself harder and faster and longer and with more enthusiasm that you ever have before? If you do, then you need to keep going! Just run. Skip, jump and do a few handstands along the way if you need to, maybe a cartwheel or two. Believe in your own glitter and embrace ahimsa to go forward, fearlessly.
