This past week has been so full of love!
If you have been following me at all on social media, you would know I was in my best friends wedding this last Saturday and what a whirlwind of a weekend it was! The whole week was full of wedding planning, cleaning, fun girlie activities and so much LOVE. We all came together to create bouquets, prepare dinner for the reception, and I even gave a pedicure (and for those of you who know me really well, that was a BIG DEAL).
I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I loved being in the thick of things and watching the wedding unfold, but my favorite moment was standing next to my very best friend with tears in my eyes, holding my other girlfriends hand as we watched her say I do. Watching her repeat her vows was such a beautiful experience and I’m so grateful she chose me to be her matron of honor alongside our friend Meagan, her maid of honor. I love weddings in general, but to be in attendance and standing right next to someone I have known my entire life, whom I have shared everything with made my heart completely melt. The love I feel for her and her happiness mean the world to me.
After the the whirlwind wedding and a beautiful reception where we danced all night, I was gifted the very unexpected opportunity to DJ an 85th birthday party the following day! It was a little tough to wake up and put on my happy face after such a long & happy evening, but I did it and I am so glad I did.
I met the most beautiful woman and her husband who were 90 years old. I wrote about them on Facebook earlier in the week; her heart was so open and sweet. I immediately texted my husband and asked him to always remember our wedding song, even when I can’t. He promised he always would and it melted my heart even more.
Love is everywhere yogis. EVERYWHERE. We just need to look for it. In the churches where newlyweds say their vows, in the hearts of ninety year old women who smile really big when they forget and in the random acts of kindness we see from strangers.
Today is Ganesha Chaturthi, which is the festival for Lord Ganesha’s birthday. Ganesha is the destroyer of obstacles and one of my favorite Hindu deities. He is the logo for my studio, Barefoot Yoga Shala as he is also the protector of the home. Today as you venture out into the world, look for blessings and love everywhere you go. Allow your obstacles to be removed and open your heart even deeper than you could have ever imagined. Flow in the beauty of your own home or on the mat in line with other yogis raising your vibrations. Find hearts in puddles and rocks. Buy a coffee for the stranger behind you in line and pay it forward all day long. Invite love and it shall wrap its arms around you all day long.
