Sunday Slowdown

Oh my dears, I cannot believe it has been a MONTH since my last post. I am so sorry I haven’t been checking in on the blog and saying hello!

I have so many fun updates and life announcements to share and I promise that in the next few weeks they will be coming. As of now, our lives have been FUN and full of love. I’ve been busier than ever and growing Barefoot Yoga Shala which is making my heart grow 3x just like the grinch.

Today, however I want to talk to you about the art of SLOWING DOWN.

Yesterday was one of those days where I kept going and going and going and going. I was running faster and longer than the Energizer Bunny. It was a beautiful day full of yoga and meetings, reiki and love. It even included a double date with one of my beautiful friends, Molly and her husband Dave.

After my full day of teaching classes, running errands and meetings, hosting our first (SUCCESSFUL) workshop at the Shala and a reiki session for a new client, I came home to read for a bit and change to go to dinner. I didn’t have much downtime at all and when we arrived at dinner I was yawning on the way there. I kept explaining to Molly that on Sunday’s I did NOTHING. She giggled in the sweetest way and told me that was highly unlikely and asked me what my nothing days were made up of.

My nothing days… my down days…. they include birthday parties, and dinners and outings and love. They sometimes include books and TV and usually lots of homemade Indian food. They include going to the movies, catching up over coffee and if it’s a good week, they include sleeping in until 8AM (which is so late for me). They include taking my time, nothing scheduled (except parties) and laundry. They include cleaning and cuddling.

In other words, Molly is right: I don’t stop moving. However for me Sunday is my slowdown. To other people who are on the outside looking in, it looks as though I’m running a million miles a minute (and I am). But on Sundays I only run at a thousand miles a minute. So for a yogi who is constantly moving, I think I’m doing pretty well with my Sunday Slowdown.

Today my day will include laundry, cleaning, LOVE, Indian food, playing fetch and maybe a trip to the farmer’s market.

What will your Sunday Slowdown bring you?

Sending you love, light & happiness!
Namaste
Jenny
