Every once in a while I get the opportunity to work with an amazing company and this week I am so pleased to talk to you about The Shine Project.
After a few years on Instagram, I started following mainly yoga folks and a handful of friends. All of the posts I see are full of positivity and light. It’s such an inspiring way to live when the people you follow, talk to or embrace are all on the same page as you are. Through yoga challenges I have found online friends whom I have yet to meet in real life, I have found companies that I am passionately in love with and found true joy in watching others accomplish their dreams.
The Shine Project was one such story. I started following them on Instagram a few months back when I was participating in a yoga challenge and found their quotes, photos and general inspiration to be uplifting and FULL of love. (Seriously, go follow them on Instagram… NOW!) This inspiration lead me to an idea: I love Lululemon and am a die hard fan (even after Chip’s serious mistakes, I understand it’s not the company… it was him). However all my lulu love was blinding me from the rest of the world. There are SO MANY companies that embody a healthy lifestyle, inspire and make really RAD clothes. I went on a journey and found some of the most amazing people in my own (internet) backyard.
This is the first of a few posts where we will be discussing where to purchase amazing yoga clothes from folks that work hard to create a business and life they love and I couldn’t be happier to start with The Shine Project!
One of the main reasons I love them so much is because of their mission. Their main objective is to create and wear CHANGE! By purchasing anything in their shop, you impact the lives of at-risk youth. They employ young first generation college students to empower them, lead them and help them create change in their lives… to help them break the cycle.
The moment I read their mission, I just KNEW I wanted to be a part of it. So I emailed the team and almost immediately received this amazing tank. It’s called the True Success Racer Back Tank and the tank supports Brianna, a first generation college student who plays soccer for her school. She wasn’t sure she was good enough to play in college and ended up making the team! “True success is overcoming the fear of being unsuccessful.” — By purchasing this T-shirt, a portion of the proceeds go towards Brianna’s scholarship fund. Check out her story here, or look at the rest of their collection to fund other students scholarships!
This tank is soft, and flowy. It is perfect for an afternoon yoga class (I wore a simple sports bra underneath) and runs true to women’s sizes for a “flowy” top. I am a medium and although it is a wee bit big, it was perfect as I wouldn’t want it to stick to my body.
Not only is it one of the most comfortable pieces I own, it is also very versatile. In the photos, I am posing for a night on the town but also for yoga! I wore it to teach in the afternoon (a quick non-sweaty flow) and then changed into shorts in order to go bowling with my husband and sister-in-law. It is great for studio or daytime wear. I love the casual feel and fit!
My first experience with The Shine Project was so beautiful! I love this tank and have already worn it in and outside of the studio. I’m so grateful to have found them on this crazy internet yoga family of ours and have my eye on a few beautiful bracelets to bring home next!
Please stop on by Threads by The Shine Project to pick out your purchase for change today. You will NOT regret it!
Get out there — do yoga & make life SPARKLE!
Namaste,
Jenny
